Some Of The 576 Drivers Came From As Far Away As India To Participate

A parade of electric vehicles has entered the record books as the largest to
have taken place to date. The gathering was held during the Berlin ePrix
this past May, where 576 EVs completed a lap of the Berlin-Tempelhof airport
circuit. But only now has it been recognized as an official world record.

The makeshift track measures 1.5 miles and was set up at the German
capital's airport for the Formula E race, and each of the participating
vehicles completed a full lap. According to the organizers, the Citroën
C-Zero (a rebadged version of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, also known as the
Peugeot iOn) was the most represented vehicle in the procession. However as
you can see – and as might be expected – there were a number of Nissan Leafs
and e-NV200 vans present as well. The rest of the field, organized by
Switzerland's "environmental adventurer" Louis Palmer, was made up of other
electric cars and large number of electric scooters and motorcycles to round
it out.

Most of the participants came from within Germany, but some came from as far
away as Turkey and even India. The total tally of 576 vehicles handily beats
the previous record of 507 set over a year ago in California's Silicon
Valley. With a growing number of electric vehicles proliferating across the
world's roadways, we can expect even this new record to be beaten many times
over in the years to come.
