South Korea’s electric car market celebrates 5,600 electric cars registered
(total).

That’s not much, but it’s expanding – in 2014 new registrations amounted to
less than 1,200, while this year 1,000 could be achieved by the most-popular
model SM3 Z.E. alone (that was the target).

In total, 80% of the 5,600 registrations belong to:

Samsung Motors SM3 Z.E. (1,604) since November 2013
Kia Soul EV (1,534) since April 2014
Kia Ray EV (1,303) (few years pilot project)
Samsung Motors SM3 Z.E. finds 900 sales through the first 11 months of 2015
(in 2014 it was 309 and probably around 400 in 2013).

SM3 Z.E. was introduced as the South Korean version of Renault Fluence Z.E.,
but locally made, modified and equipped with a 3-phase fast charging system
used previously in the Renault ZOE.

South Korea’s second best selling electric car in 2015, the Kia Soul EV,
maybe will take #1 in 2016:
