Agreed.

As I noted in my original post:

"It's a big shift for the province which effectively outlawed NEVs/LSVs a few years ago, and was a laggard in allowing e-bikes on its roads."

It is worth noting that when Ontario introduced new rules to create a unique-in-the-world definition for LSV/NEVs, they exempted themselves from those provisions - as provincial government agencies had several in use at the time.

It hasn't all been rainbows and lollipops in Ontario for EVs over the past few decades. AFAIK, it's still illegal to ride an electric motorcycle on a limited-access highway in Ontario - no matter what it's top speed. It took no small effort to get EVs exempted from emissions testing in Ontario.

Now that the current provincial government is getting with the program, they should be applauded and encouraged. It was pretty discouraging to speak for EVs under the previous regime.

Now, if Ontario can find an automaker to start building EVs in Ontario

together.
Except in the past Ontario shafted Zenn and others who tried to start up
EV manufacturing in the province.

We'll have to see whether they have turned over a new leaf (Leaf?).
