A revolutionary range-extended electric vehicle prototype, claimed to be
designed for trucks and buses from 2 to 26 tonnes gvw, is undergoing
endurance testing at the Millbrook test track.

Developer Charge R&D (an internationally funded but UK-based high-tech
company) says the goal is to prove its potential to deliver ultra-low
emissions and commercial vehicle operating costs “far lower than fossil fuel
equivalents”.

The first test programme using this first prototype will be followed by
several others this year, all aimed at evaluating major components as well
as proving the fuel efficiency of the range extended electric concept truck.

“We believe that very soon we will be able to demonstrate that we have found
the ultimate target of emissions-free heavy vehicle technology – ultra low
emissions at much less than the cost of diesel power,” insists Charge
technical director Glenn Saint.
