I think they mean "renderings." "Render" as a noun means a rough coat of plaster. Even with that, this article is not what I'd call "news," EV or otherwise. It's pure speculation, and that's putting it as politely as I can. The person who did the rendering must have way too much time on his hands, and the "reporter" who thought it was newsworthy needs to find a job with the Weekly World News or something.
