I know that CR has made some boneheaded moves on the past, but their reliability ratings are pretty well regarded. I would not be at all surprised that an i3 is unreliable, since that's a pretty common thing for BMWs. And wasn't it around 2013 that Nissan had their problems with packs in hot regions?
To me this sounds like teething problems in a fairly new technology. I see no reason to suggest "koolaid" of any kind is involved.
