There's not a huge electric market for motorcycles, at least not yet, but we hand picked four that you can actually hand money over for and order. Lightning Motorcycles claims that their LS 218 is the fastest production motorcycle in the world. Lightning says that when the LS 218 is setup and equipped properly, it's capable of reaching a mind-blowing 218 miles per hour. That's massive! When you're not doing high-speed runs, the bike can see 100 miles of range, The LS-218 starts at about $39,000. Lightning is currently accepting order reservations. The Zero SR is a high-tech bike that still able to deliver the same thrill as an equivalent gas-powered bike. At just $14,395 after federal tax breaks, the Zero SR isn't the cheapest motorcycle on the block, but does fair pretty well. It has an insane amount of torque, a claimed range of 150 plus miles, and a top speed of 102 miles per hour. And, it can do zero to 60 in just 3.3 seconds. Zero motorcycles also have an app that can be used to track battery charge status as well as energy usage stats from the bike. The app can also be used to program the bike's driving modes and performance configurations. The Energica Ego is an Italian piece of two-wheeled beauty. When you drop $34,000 on an Energica Ego, you get an amazing looking electric motorcycle that's can do almost 150 miles per hour, can travel almost 60 miles, and can do zero to 60 in three seconds flat. It isn't as affordable as the Zero SR, but if you want something European that really looks the part, the Ego is a solid option. The Alta Motors Redshift SM was built to perform. The Alta Motors Redshift SM doesn't have the looks of bikes like the Energica Ego or even of the Zero SR, but it's a great low-cost option for those who really want to get on a fun, electric motorcycle. The RedShift SM has a claimed range of 50 miles and a top speed of 85 miles per hour. It's a straight-forward, simple, durable, electric bike, and it's currently available for pre-order at $15,495.
