Press Release: Hollywood Electrics and Zero Motorcycles are headed to
Colorado on June 26, 2016, for the 100th Anniversary and 94th running of the
annual Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), with two
race-prepped Zero Motorcycles FXS bikes to be piloted by motorcycle racing
stars Jake Holden (#59) and Mark Miller (#10).

A Pikes Peak rookie, Mark Miller arrives with an extensive résumé that
includes the “Fastest Lap by an American at the Isle of Man TT.” In addition
to 11 years of Isle of Man TT racing with one 1st and three podium finishes,
Mark has competed in the Macau Grand Prix 16 times, has finished on the
podium 20 times, and has one win with AMA Pro National Road Racing. Miller
said, “I’m super stoked to be taking on the mountain with Hollywood
Electrics and Zero Motorcycles. I’ve always wanted to race Pikes Peak and I
can’t think of a cooler motorcycle to race up that beautiful vista than one
with no noise or vibration, WHOOSH!”

Jake Holden returns to Pikes Peak after a 2-year hiatus having finished 2nd
in his class, third overall at the 2013 PPIHC, his rookie year. Holden has
an impressive list of accolades with the AMA including three wins and
countless podiums spanning various classes and bikes. “I’m really excited to
join Hollywood Electrics on their Zero FXS electric motorcycle. This will be
my 2nd time racing up the mountain so with the data I got from the 2013 race
I feel confident that I can improve,” said Holden.

Holden and Miller have been gearing up for the Race to the Clouds on all new
Zero FXS race-prepped machines debuting exclusive performance parts by
Hollywood Electrics. The Hollywood Electrics Racing team returns as the
three-time Electric Production Class winner with consecutive titles from
2013 through 2015. This will be Miller’s first race on America’s Mountain
and Holden’s second after a two year hiatus.

“We’ve been laying the groundwork for this day since we first conceived of
an electric motorcycle racing team. With two very talented racers amongst
the 33 motorcycle competitors at this exclusive event, we are confident the
Zero Motorcycles will once again show they’re the leading force on the
course,” said Team Owner Harlan Flagg of Hollywood Electrics Racing. “The
proof is on the podium. Zero Motorcycles continuously conquer Pikes Peak,
and thus affirm they are more than capable of handling your everyday riding
needs.”

Both racers will be on Zero Motorcycles’ 2016 Zero FXS models which boast an
incredible 70 ft-lb max torque on a 293 lb chassis. Made in Santa Cruz,
California these electric motorcycles are able to deliver consistent
performance at any altitude, unaffected by the thin air that wreaks havoc on
the fuel mixture of their internal combustion powered counterparts.

“We’re proud to be sponsoring Hollywood Electrics’ entry at the 100th
Anniversary of the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and
building on our winning track record. As the three-time defending production
electric motorcycle class winner, we’ve proven we know what it takes to win.
2016 gives us another opportunity to showcase our amazing technology. With
their phenomenal torque and acceleration, Zero electric motorcycles are
ideally suited to the Race to the Clouds,” said Scot Harden, VP of Global
Marketing for Zero Motorcycles.

Are Electric Motorcycles Actually Cool?
Apr 11, 2016 I have no idea if this factored into electric motorcycle
makers' factoring, but maybe, as a consequence, they made their bikes cooler
in a number of different ways ... “If you consider that gasoline is a finite
resource,” says performance vehicle fabricator Greg Davis, “and so far
electricity is not, this seems to be the smarter way to go. Just put
noisemakers on them so people hear them coming.”
