It was an already re-converted Jet 750P which introduced me to EV's and
brought me to this discussion list in 1999. They definitely have well put
together parts and others which are not so well done. But, the motors I
have seen were all the 9 inch GE motors which I found to be an excellent EV
motor at (in my experience) up to 192 volts at 600 amps under extreme
acceleration. And the motor interface with the flywheel was also very well
done. All of the electronics have been superseded by much more efficient
and lighter components than were available when they were being converted.
The Solar Electric conversion I drive now (which was done a little later by
Gary Starr who brought us ZAP vehicles later in his career...) was, in my
opinion, copied from what Jet had done. (It uses the same motor/interface,
and very similar charging, controller, etc). They were my favorite
canditates for cannabilizing for the parts or reconverting in the years I
was really involved.
