The multi-car crash happened about 1 p.m. in the 800 block of South University Drive, said Plantation Fire Department Battalion Chief Joel Gordon. A man driving a black Tesla through the parking lot appeared to fall asleep; his passenger grabbed the wheel upon noticing, he said. "The car apparently jerked, went up over the curb and rode up over the parked car," Gordon said. The impact of the Tesla hitting the Toyota Camry caused the Camry to hit two other parked cars, a Nissan Sentra and a Ford Focus, the battalion chief said. No one was inside the parked cars; the two people in the Tesla were not hurt.
