Marcelo Rinesi is CTO for the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies
and a freelance data scientist. He also writes science fiction. He's
recently published (online) a collection of 100 stories of 100 words each.
He calls the collection "Tactical Awareness."

He says, "I wrote it to get rid of a mood by condensing it and writing it
down: the fascinated, uneasy sense of having relocated into the Uncanny
Valley without quite meaning to, and the landscape does listen, and didn't
we use to have winters? As catharsis it proved an utter failure, but I think
it works as a (partial!) commonplace book of things we're doing we probably,
by and large, should not."

I mention this as preface to one of the stories, which I thought some
EVDLers might find interesting. It seems to be set in some future in which
almost all vehicles are EVs:

Few travel to Russian Siberia, but for petrolheads it´s Eden and Masada, the
last place where petrol engines howl in a world haunted by its blighted
skies. They peregrinate every year to the Race, cars ever-hungrier with the
exhilarated desperation of approaching extinction, and run where the tundra
used to be. Many are killed in accidents, more by amateur mines. After
the floods, famines, and plague, petrolheads are the one group everybody
hates. They don´t care about death, theirs or the world´s. Only the roar of
engines, and that last moment they are racing to.
