Interesting. From the pics on your website it appears that you just welded up some thick steel pieces. That's been sturdy enough? > > The other big problem I am having, is that it seems that tractors NEED a > lot of weight, especially over the back wheels. That's also a common problem with the large frame GE Elec-trak garden tractors. They have 4 golf car batteries in back and 2 in front. For normal lawn mowing and such, it's fine. However, with a heavy snow thrower on the front, they really need more rear weight for decent snow traction. I hear it's even worse with the front loader. A heavy enough load can lift the rear wheels right off the ground. GE made a rear-attached weight box and it works pretty well for this. You can fill it with old lead tire balancing weights or at least cinderblocks. Wheel weights help too. I have the weight box on my E15, with derelict lead batteries in it, even though I plow snow with the dozer blade and don't use a snow thrower. So lead batteries can definitely help your situation, even if you use junk ones strictly as dead weight on the rear wheels.
