I do my best to get out of the house and get some regular exercise, despite
the joint and other pains (use it or lose it ... or no pain, no gain, etc.).

While driving to get to a secure WiFi location so I can install all the
updates, and configure a smallish tablet PC to meet my EVLN needs (so I can
do some traveling), I spied a full new-car carrier heading downtown.

The whole carrier was full of Ford Fusion Energi pih. Obviously, the local
Ford dealership they were headed to, is pih sales focused (I have posted
about that dealership previously). It made me think what-if, Ford got
on-board with selling EVs ... naa, not going to happen.

Ford didn't do the eco-scandal VW did, but IMO Ford's lack of EVs sales
effort is about the same as cheating by not trying.

On my way back home, I saw my regular share of Tesla-S and Leaf EVs sharing
the road with me, plus that lone Fiat EV parked in the back lot at the
shopping center I arrived at. The driver must work at one of the stores, as
I always see that EV back-in parked in about the same spot each week when I
go shopping.

Even though it was clearly a 500e with the white CA HOV lane sicker
plastered on it, it curiously had an Abarth look (black paint with an orange
stripe, and Abarth-ish black on orange interior, etc.)

I did not know this was available for the 500e, but a look at their website
http://www.fiatusa.com/en/500e/
shows it is (too bad my large body does not fit. I don't fit a Leaf
either).

 ...

Today, when begining my hobble-walker exercise, my joints complained. I
pushed through the pain, when I saw a neighbor with a silver Leaf EV that
looked similar to

As I slowly worked my way over to them, I saw that they were working
together to clean the exterior of one of their vehicles (no water used as
there is still a drought condition on in CA).
 The man looked like:

was kind enough to yak with me for a few minutes about their Leaf EV. But
it must have been her

car, as she knew what year it was.

He said they knew of plugshare.com , but mainly used Blink. He knew that
plugshare listed all the various EVSE brands (not just Blink).

He said most of their charging when remote was overnight L1 charging, but
when at home, they have a L2 charger (they knew the EV verbage of L1, L2 and
L3 charging).

When I asked if they had used the level-3 (L3) charging he said no they had
not. He was firm that he was concerned with the limited range. He said for
long trips, they would use their (ice) vehicle (meaning so as to calm his
range angst).

He said they had the Leaf on lease. He was firm that they would not keep the
Leaf after the lease was up (she said nothing, still going about her
business nearby).

I asked him what about the 200 mile EVs coming out(?), but he was still firm
that he was range concerned.

She piped in saying she'd like a Tesla (meaning she wants to spend the money
on a longer range Tesla EV), but though he did not verbally say no, it was
clear that he did not share her EV enthusiasm (though she did not stand up
to speak her EV views during the conversation).

I also mentioned that L3 will soon be bumped up from 50kW to 100kW to do a
quick recharge of a 200 mile EV in the same time, 15 minutes. He said, "See
that is just too long."

I mentioned that there is a new flash charging going on with buses that only
take a couple minutes. That did not impress him.

I kept my EV enthusiasm on a short leash, and did not bombard them with all
my EV knowledge nor experience, and just politely ended the chat, by saying
I respected their views, thanked him for talking with me, and left. I left
it on a pleasant note, and it felt good to talk-EVs. All that EV-excitement
made for a nice distraction from the joint pain as I slowly hobbled away.

Some people might have tried to dissuade his stronger (negative) view of
EVs, but I felt that would have been counter-productive at that time. It
seemed like he was dominating the decisions, that she was going to lose her
Leaf after the lease, and they were going to drive his ice from then on.
Seems like she has the right (EV) thinking, but is kowtowing.

Clearly there were some couple-related conflicts, I did not want to get
involved with.
