GM and Lyft have recently formed a $500 million partnership in a deal that
should bring with it a long line of successes to come. As the Californian
based car-sharing service looks to expand its services, GM jump in to help
with offering Lyft drivers the chance to be some of the first people
worldwide to enjoy the new electric Chevy Bolt.

The Bolt is Chevrolet’s offering of an all-electric that is capable of doing
200 miles in one single charge. With its easy 240-volt charging unit, this
little beauty will charge fully in just 9 hours. That’s the equivalent of
25 miles of range per hour, so no wonder Lyft drivers want a piece of the
action. Another great selling point for the Chevy Bolt is that it is
affordable too. With a price tag of around $30,000, and minimal running and
maintenance costs, that is one big bargain!

With the expansion of the Express-Drive program, the companies drivers that
are based in California will have access to the brand new Chevy Bolt EV’s
once they are released in 2017 and the Chevy Volt’s that are on the market
now. Many drivers have already expressed their interest in getting their
hands on one of the new vehicles as part of the Express Drive program, and
the Boston program was fully booked within a matter of days.

By offering this type of program, the company is giving thousands of people
the chance to become a Lyft driver that were unable to previously as they
did not own a vehicle. But now, with the rental program in place, there is
a much fairer chance of new drivers being able to come on board. Lyft also
offer a really good incentive as part of the rental program in that it will
only cost you $99 per week to rent the new Chevy Bolt EV and 20 cents per
mile if less than 40 rides per week were completed. However, complete over
65 rides or more in one week and the rental is free!

There are promising times ahead for this newly formed partnership as they
set to take the nation by storm with the Express Drive adding to their
services. Eventually, the company would like to see autonomous cars
offering a shuttle service around town, but there is still some more work to
be done before that comes to fruition.

Remember that Chevrolet Bolt, Lyft news from awhile back? If not, it can be
simply summarized as follows:

“General Motors and ride-sharing partner, Lyft, are in the process of
expanding the Express Drive vehicle access program to include Colorado and
California. Lyft drivers will become some of the first to enjoy the 2017
Chevrolet Bolt EV.”

“San Francisco is targeted for summer 2016, with Los Angeles to follow in
the fall. Denver will be added to the program by the fall as well. The
cities will have access to the country’s largest electric ride-sharing fleet
which will include both the new 2016 Chevrolet Volt and, by late fall, the
2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV.”

Well, apparently there’s a tiny bit more to the story. As Trend In Tech
reports:

“Lyft also offer a really good incentive as part of the rental program in
that it will only cost you $99 per week to rent the new Chevy Bolt EV and 20
cents per mile if less than 40 rides per week were completed. However,
complete over 65 rides or more in one week and the rental is free!”

So, theoretically then you could get a Chevrolet Bolt for free it appears,
provided you rent it for Lyft purposed and complete 65 rides per week.
