It has about 42,000 miles on it and I have lost three of my 12 charge bars. However, it still has another year+ left on its 5 year/60,000 mile battery warranty. If I lose one more bar, I get a new battery from Nissan. Thus, I have decided to take the chance that it will in fact lose one more bar in the next 13 months. The one drawback to this plan is that the car will no longer get me to and from work this winter. The heater on the 2011-2012 cars uses too much energy and you can’t completely switch it off. It will continue to heat the battery on the coldest days. On temperate days, my range is about 50 miles which is more than enough.
