A group-buy program for electric vehicles that started in Madison is
expanding to Milwaukee this month.

Through Sept. 30, Wisconsin Clean Cities, a local nonprofit organization
that works with fleets to reduce emissions from vehicles' tailpipes, said it
is sponsoring the “Rev Up Wisconsin” group-buy program, in conjunction with
local Nissan dealerships.

The program allows for savings of more than $8,200 off the $35,720 sticker
price of a Nissan Leaf all-electric car, as well as 0% financing and a
$7,500 federal tax incentive.

Participating dealers include Gordie Boucher Nissan of Greenfield, John
Amato Nissan in Glendale, Rosen Nissan of Milwaukee and Russ Darrow Nissan
of Milwaukee. The program started last month in conjunction with Rosen
Nissan of Madison and Zimbrick Nissan.

Wisconsin Clean Cities launched the program after it delivered results in
other states. The initiative is launched at a time when sales of the Leaf
nationally are down 36% from last year, according to Nissan.

“The program provides a great opportunity for potential electric vehicle
owners to learn about the vehicle, drive the vehicle and save money on their
purchase," said Lorrie Lisek, executive director of Wisconsin Clean Cities.
"Electric vehicles offer improved fuel economy, lower fuel costs and
reduction in vehicle emissions.”

We Energies became a partner in the initiative “to raise awareness about
electric vehicles,” said Cathy Schulze, a utility spokeswoman. “We don’t
have a special rate for owners of EVs, but we do point out that our
time-of-use rate may be something that people who have electric vehicles are
able to take advantage of.”

In a time-of-use rate, homeowners or businesses pay a lower rate for
electricity used overnight than the typical We Energies rate. During the
day, time-of-use customers pay a higher rate.
