% IMO
So, what is it with after the year 2015: just about anything insane can be
said or done, and no one stops or corrects that?

Well bottom line: Google is not going to produce those little nEVs for sale
in the future (I wonder which Goog manager made that decision?).

But seriously, 'Waymo' as a product name?!?
Now that CA voters have allowed dope(cannabis) consumption, is that the
state the Goog team was in when they came up with the product name Waymo?

Perhaps the name is in reference to way-points as used by a GPS device.
Or they were trying to bring some old street slang, as in way-more (mo-fo).
Or they were trying to leverage off the well-known name of toy manufacturer
Wham-O.

In any case, their product name (like GM's Volt, Bolt dolt naming) is
lame-o.

Below is only a short of the many links on this topic. %

Google's Waymo successfully takes blind man around Texas
2016-12-14

Google announced Tuesday that it is spinning off its self-driving car unit
Waymo, allowing it to focus on developing technology, rather than making its
own driverless cars.
Waymo is now the self-driving car unit under Google's parent company
Alphabet, and on Tuesday's announcement, it also said that its autonomous
car successfully drove a blind man named Steve Mahan around Texas last year.

The achievement is even more significant in that the vehicle lacked not only
a secondary passenger capable of assisting Mahan, but also a steering wheel
and pedals.
And now that Waymo will be looking to partner up with automakers and sell on
its technology, more developments are expected to be made in driverless
cars, hopefully allowing daily use of autonomous cars for average people in
the near future.
