I had only had one previous lease experience before leasing the Spark EV I drove home at the end of October; I leased a Saturn for my wife in 1999 because I was waiting for the Honda Civic Hybrid. She will not give up her clutch, does not like automatic transmissions, and Honda was the only one offering a hybrid with 5 speed so we had a good experience with that lease with no unpleasant surprises. The main reason that leasing the Spark was the best choice for me now is that we are low income, and the federal tax credits would not do anything for us in a purchase, but for the lease, it took off over $10,000 from the base price, which is what the lease payments are calculated on. The real surprise was that when I applied for the $2500 CVRP payment, a pop-up asked, "It looks like you may be eligible for a higher rebate; would you like to apply for that?" I received the $4000 check yesterday, which lowered my total costs with everything except the higher insurance premiums for full coverage, ad the cost of electricity for charging to an average of $90.69 monthly for the 36 months. By then, I expect to see many used EV's available for purchase--> maybe even a Dolt/Volt...but there will certainly be many more choices. Michael B
