Yampa Valley Sustainability Council will host the annual Electric Vehicle Ride-n-Drive community education event twice on June 30, and owners of electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles are encouraged to participate. This free summer event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the Farmers Market at Seventh and Yampa streets in downtown Steamboat Springs and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Olympian Lodge parking lot at Howelsen Hill before the June 30 free concert. The event will showcase several fully electric powered or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, including some available for short test drives, to help community members learn more about these modern, cleaner air vehicles. According to state vehicle registration records through April, Routt County is home to 24 electric vehicles and 132 electric/gasoline hybrid vehicles. This year's EV Ride-n-Drive will feature a 238-mile-range, all-electric Chevy Bolt, Tesla model X, Chevy Volt [pih] and electric bicycles and mountain bikes.
