It’s been just over two years since the Electric GT series was announced:
similar to Formula E, it’s an all-electric racing series, but one that uses
a modified version [

] of the consumer Tesla Model S. With the series’ first season finally
kicking off in November, Electric GT Holdings unveiled its race-spec Model S
this week in Barcelona, and it’s clear it’s a Tesla ready for the track.

Dubbed the EPCS (Electric Production Car Series) V2.3 Tesla P100DL, it’s
definitely a step above the production version P100D. Among the upgrades and
improvements are carbon fiber body panels and a roll cage that reduce the
vehicle’s weight by 500kg, a front splitter and rear wing setup that
increases downforce, upgraded suspension, and racing brakes paired with
Pirelli P Zero wet/dry tires.

With just under 790 horsepower, the EPCS V2.3 Tesla P100DL is said to reach
top speeds of 250 km/h, and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.1 seconds.
Each vehicle is outfitted with a 100 kWh battery, which is expected to allow
90km of range on a single charge.

Each team in the Electric GT series will use an identical car, with CEO Mark
Gemmell noting that each one costing roughly $350,000 to build. The first
season will feature 10 races, with the final scheduled to take place at
Vallelunga, Italy in October 2019.
