As if things couldn’t get any worse for Elon Musk, his now infamous
electric car company Tesla is under fire, quite literally.

Tesla’s GigaFactory, located in the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center in Nevada,
experienced a fire break out on Saturday the 15th of September.

The fire was put out by Sunday morning, and production resumed as usual,
according to Tesla car company and emergency personnel.

According to a statement by the Storey County Emergency Management
department, the county’s fire department had received a reporting of a
potential fire at Tesla’s GigaFactory on Saturday at around 10:12 p.m.
Pacific Daylight Time.

The County spokesperson further added that the fire was put out by the fire
department and with the help of water sprinklers. According to the emergency
department’s director, Joe Curtis, the fire had been cleared and control of
the area was handed back to the electric car company for cleanup and
restoration ...

According to Tesla’s spokesperson, the fire started in the cooling tube
coating oven on the building’s third floor, but it was quickly contained
from causing any further damage.

As soon as the fire had broken out, factory workers were given the go-ahead
to start evacuating. The spokesperson did not care to reveal the extent of
damage the fire had caused but added that an official investigation was
underway.

The factory manufactures battery packs and electric motors for the Tesla 3
Model electric cars. This was the second fire in months for Tesla.
Previously, a minor fire had broken out on the premises of Tesla’s
California factory.

This fire has come out as a major setback for Tesla and its stockholders,
further delaying production.

Just last month, Tesla had stated that it was hoping to generate around 50k
to 55k Tesla Model 3 electric cars in the third quarter period of July to
September.

... according to Musk, the company’s problems have transformed from
production issues to delivery issues.

Musk states that the reason behind this is that a significant proportion of
customers belong to North America, so customers from other parts of the
world will have to wait longer.

In order to combat this bump in the road, Tesla Motors has decided to remove
some color options for its electric cars. This will allow the manufacturing
process to become much more efficient.
