Ken,
I have found packs on Ebay but prices have gone through the roof.
One year ago I bought several packs from LKQ, but they no longer have stock all
the times I called in the last months.
I found one of my last packs at a local dismantler who posted it on Craigslist.
Another pack came straight out of a Leaf that I bought for that purpose (and
replaced with an older pack and resold).
I know a local EV’er who has a good pack and want to sell it as he also found
and won Tesla packs.

The capacity is estimated by the BMS, so hook up an ELM327 OBD2 bluetooth
dongle to the pack’s CAN bus and you can use LeafSpy to see all the info from
the pack’s BMS.

G1 is 24kWh out of cars from 2010 until some production date in model year 2013
when they switched from the old (black plastic inserts in the modules) to the
so-called “lizard” battery modules that can withstand heat a little better and
you can recognize from having white plastic inserts around he pouches in the
modules.
Then in 2016/2017 (depending on trim level and options) they started making
30kWh packs by building double stacked modules with slightly bigger and higher
capacity pouches inside.
In 2018 they introduced the 40kWh battery.
Hope this clarifies,
Cor.
