Why was this newswire item posted?
IMO, clearly, Tesla Motors is not a GM/Ford/etc. old-school style automaker.
Its run just like a silicon valley hi-tech company (not like an old Detroit
style brick and mortar auto company).
Now, some new blood has been placed on Tesla's board. One of those being
$Billionare$ Ellison who isn't known to be the quiet type
https://www.google.com/search?q=Larry+Ellison+outspoken
With Tesla's fast/quick changes occurring (just like in hi-tech), we will
have to see how the board changes plays out for Tesla, and how it effects
their EV production.
Tesla, like other automakers, are global. Newswires have been touting how
gaga automakers are about seeking sales profit$ from the China (& other
Asian countries). All of them

including Tesla
https://qz.com/1510091/tesla-cars-could-be-made-in-china-from-2019/
want a large slice of the (moon)pie.cn profit$

btw, there are evdl members that also lived/live in the silicon valley (sv)
area. I hope they will also post their views/corrections/ comments on their
sv experiences (they think& act differently there)
https://www.google.com/search?q=silicon+valley+high+tech+experience
(Personal history) In my 25 year hi-tech career as a former Hewlett-Packard
Customer Engineer (hp-ce), I had heard of Ellison's publicized behavior at
customer sites' computer rooms, from competing companies' ce's (Sun, Compaq,
Dell, etc.) that I would work with.
We competing companies' (Sun, Compaq, Dell, etc.) ce's would talk while we
waited (killing time) for our systems to be backed-up, shutdown, reloaded,
&or rebooted. Ellison was mentioned in our conversations because of what
wild things he would say, or do
https://www.google.com/search?q=Larry+Ellison
I point this out because the newswires have long bashed Tesla Motors because
of Musk's activities/behavior.
? -Does Ellison's arrival signal a shift that the media will now focus on
him (letting Musk get on with pumping out product)
? -Or, will Ellison's behavior denigrate/distract Tesla from achieving their
goals?
Then again, Ellison's track record with Apple, suggests he may not be with
Tesla long enough to do either benefit, or damage(?)
I head toward an end this rant post with a first hand observation of how
radical and quickly things transition/change in sv.
My job would take inside many companies (Apple, Albertsons, Sun, Intel,
Yahoo, Lockheed, Oracle, 3Com, Cisco, Nat.Semiconductor, Cadence.D.Sys,
Applied Materials, Amdahl, Ampex, Hm.Depot, +many-more, just to name a few).
Going into so many companies over decades gave me an insight on how sv
hi-tech companies think and behave (very different, hbo.com/silicon-valley
only gives a whiff of the wackadoodle goings on).
-for years during my hp ce career, I supported the (former hp, then) Agilent
Deer Creek site. Now, the site is owned by Tesla
https://www.paloaltoonline.com/news/2009/08/18/tesla-to-move-its-headquarters-to-palo-alto
I would come by and drive around the outside of the site for a brief visit
to see the changes (I liked all the hpwc EVSE Tesla installed in the small
lobby entrance parking lot. Not much had changed on the site with Tesla
taking ownership (still just as hp/Agilent-style warm and friendly)
https://goo.gl/maps/wpEFtTw4qHt
Then recently because of the Tesla-3 production push, parking at their Deer
Creek became very crowded
https://usa.streetsblog.org/2017/04/14/teslas-parking-problem-says-a-lot-about-elon-musks-brand-of-tech-saviorism/
Still, even with the crowded valet parking, once I explained to the parking
control officer I was leaving and had just come by to briefly see my former
hp site, she was polite and kind
https://i0.wp.com/usa.streetsblog.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2017/04/tesla-insta-777x437.jpg
-years ago on one hp-ce call I had at the then Sun Microsystems Menlo Park
site
https://www.google.com/search?q=sun+microsystems+menlo+park&tbm=isch
at that time, it too was an open campus, with happy and friendly employees
and outside support/maintenance people
(the former hp employee who preferred to use his hp unix workstation instead
of the Sun Spark station he had been given, gloated that the only thing
wrong after years of service, was overheating from a stopped/seized
sleeve-bearing box-cooling-fan, thus it auto-shutdown. I replaced it with a
longer lasting ball-bearing fan, and it booted up just fine. I left with an
all-smiles, happy Sun customer).
-later, after Ellison's Oracle had bought Sun, Oracle sold that Sun Menlo
Park site to Facebook
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=facebook+menlo+park
Wow, what a change to the whole persona of the site.
While employees and others could drive in or out of the site, it was
basically a closed campus with everyone being watch by security. If you did
not look like an affluent employee, security would chase you down to
(harass) write you up, and then chase you out (total paranoia to the point
of weirdness. I wouldn't want to work there, yuk).
Bottom line: things-at or the timbre-of a sv hi-tech company can change very
quickly
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timbre
I am hoping Tesla's Board changes are for the good, or at least do not cause
harm. That stops the continued success of Tesla producing and selling their
high quality EVs
(then I will be all-smiles).
