My wife and I are going to take the plunge and are looking for a Tesla S or 3.
We live in Virginia but would travel as needed for a good deal. If anyone
knows of any for sale, let me know. We have been scouring the web looking for
the right car. We are looking for 90- 100 kWh

is a very good place to find and sell used Teslas. I suspect that will
be the best place to find a local car that meets your needs.
My 2013 S85 is listed there:

Soon to be offered for rent will be my 2017 S100D
The 2013 S is pre AutoPilot and pre D. A minor benefit of pre D is that
a spare wheel can be carried in the front. A significant benefit of
being 2013 is the increasingly rare transferable SuperCharging.
I would encourage you to consider software limited S60s. They can be
charged quickly right up to their limited capacity.
Also to be considered is the efficiency of the 75kwh 3. They charge
"faster". 3s peak out on charge power at about 500 mph while Ss rarely
do 400mph. Both of those with less than 120kw. A 75kwh 3 has about the
same range as a S90.
I don't believe Bruce has had the Full Tesla Experience. I do not agree
with him on the value of a chademo adapter. They did have more value
before the SuperCharger network was built out. Now, even a 200 mile car
can do the ~100 mile jumps from SuperCharger to SuperCharger all over
the country. And large portions of Canada and Mexico. 300 mile cars
tend to hit only every 2nd SuperCharger. In the areas not well covered
by SuperChargers, chademos are likely to be missing also. Even where
chademos are sited, SuperChargers are far preferred by Teslas for
several reasons: Since chademos have a reputation for being poorly
maintained and having only one or two stations per site, they are often
occupied or not working. The situation MAY improve with Electrify
America but EA is now covering only areas already covered by
SuperChargers. The adapters may be used on both S and X but not 3. I
have had an adapter since they were first available and only found one
use for it. At the time, I needed to charge in central Dallas; now
there are about 5 SuperChargers scattered about Dallas. I did test the
adapter several times and loaned it out to others doing cross country
trips. The borrowers also used it infrequently or not at all. I
haven't heard of one being used in the past few years, since major
advances in SuperCharger coverage.
