The Euro-spec version of Kia’s electric hatch is offered with a choice of two battery-electric powertrains and has a WLTP estimated range of up to 280 miles (452 km) in top spec. This version uses a 64 kWh battery pack that powers the 201 hp (204 PS / 150 kW) electric motor, which allows it to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds. The lesser grade has a 39.2 kWh battery, which provides a 172 miles (277 km) range, and a 134 hp (136 PS / 100 kW) electric motor. On the outside, the Soul Electric has remained truthful to its predecessor. It still has a quirky styling, but everything you see is new. The same can be said about the cabin, too, which features acoustic-inspired shapes and textures. Audiophiles can also choose a sound mood lighting, which pulses to the beat of the audio system. Space is decent for rear seat occupants and, although the materials used throughout the cockpit are far from being premium, they don’t disappoint. The high driving position provides good overall visibility, AutoTrader notes in their review that took place on the streets of Frankfurt, Germany. The ride is on the firm side, but combined with the responsive steering, the new Soul EV [ https://www.carscoops.com/2019/02/2020-kia-soul-ev-gets-243-mile-range-rating-epa/ ] is quite engaging to drive, and the Sport mode sharpens up throttle response even more.
