The popular electric model is now £2,765 cheaper than before.

As Volkswagen gears up to launch a new standalone EV, the German
manufacturer has made its e-Golf electric car even more appealing thanks to
a £2,765 price cut.

This saving sees the price drop from £33,840 to £31,075, and that’s before
the government’s £3,500 electric car grant is taken into account. With this
deduction, it means the e-Golf now starts from £25,575 – making it an even
more viable alternative to the new Hyundai IONIQ Electric and Nissan Leaf.

Based on the best-selling Golf – currently the UK’s third-most popular car
of 2019 – the e-Golf remains as well-rounded as the standard hatchback with
its high-quality cabin and versatility. Its 144-mile range isn’t
class-leading, but should prove to be plenty for many drivers.

Volkswagen is also currently offering a 48-hour test drive offer to
prospective customers – allowing drivers to see how an electric car would
slot into their lives.

Geraldine Ingham, head of marketing at Volkswagen UK, said: “With ultra-low
running costs and zero-emissions incentives, the e-Golf was already a
value-packed offering by virtue of its electric powertrain.

“A sizable price realignment only makes the e-Golf a more tempting
proposition to buyers; after all, it’s a Golf – one of the UK’s most popular
cars – but with all the added benefits and bonuses associated with electric
propulsion.”
