Andrew Wood asked:
Does anyone know where its possible to buy reed switches of large size
i.e where the glass tube is about the diameter of a finger? Contact
rating only needs to be low voltage/current.
Also some largeish diameter coils they could be placed in to operate them?
I've never seen a reed that large. If it was, it would be able to switch
10s of amps. It was cheaper to use conventional relays for such
currents, so I don't think anyone made them.
Is this for a demo? If so, you could build one yourself in a test tube,
with a couple pieces of flat spring steel at each end. Holding a magnet
or electromagnet near it will make them attract each other and touch.
