Tomlinson: Range anxiety all too real when driving electric car from Austin
to Corpus

It think some local Austin Tesla owners have said that this story was also published in the Austin Statesman.

Back when I read the Austin paper, auto dealers were MAJOR advertisers. Many pages each day. I imagine the SA Express News is the same.

The most amusing feature of the story is that the existence of Tesla is not acknowledged. Tesla sells more EVs than any other. The cars are accepted to be superior. A Tesla traveling from Austin to Corpus has choices of two SuperChargers on each of two routes: San Marcos, Three Rivers, Flatonia, and Victoria. An in route charge may not be needed for a Tesla. Worst case is that ONE charging stop may be needed. Those wishing to wander about (as I do), might consider visiting SuperChargers in Giddings, Columbus, and Kingsville on a Corpus trip. For the majority of EVs, the range anxiety featured in the story is a complete non issue.

It seems the purpose of the story was to convince readers that EVs are not yet ready for prime time. That might be true if the readers shopped for their cars only in the newspapers. I think the end of legacy auto makers may be approaching. Ditto for newspapers.
