Howdy all - have a thing here and I'm wondering if anyone else has ever run into it. On my EV (electravan from the 80's), I have an electric reverse going via an sw202 contactor. Did a motor swap fairly recently to a 7" Prestolite, which has a tach send + tachometer that were in use on the previous car that was using this motor. Problem is, it has an issue with the reverse setup, and fair enough as it spins the motor backwards. Probably should have expected as much! It made an audible clicking sound and I'm hoping nothing is stripped out - I've unhooked it at the tach and may need to unhook it at the motor as well. Will test, not sure if the little 90 deg adapter that's inline is ok with being spun the other way.
Question - anyone know of any sort of little adapter, maybe from the forklift world, that will freewheel when spun backwards but allow the tach drive to go through in forward only? Does such a thing exist? We have a speedo specialist in the area, will give them a call as well. I like the idea of having the analog tach but might skip this and do an optical one if I can't get something in place for it. Which optical has the advantage that I could use it to trigger my redline controller cutoff, so not the worst thing. Thanks as always -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
