Hi gang,
Anybody interested in almost 300 flooded NiCd cells of unknown quality?
I recently purchased the US Electricar S10 that used to belong to Mike
Phillips, who experimented with different pack chemistries, for
example he did have Prius packs (NiMH) in there but found out that
they poorly charge in parallel. In the end, before he moved out of San
Jose, he had the truck running on a pack of flooded NiCd cells, I
believe they are BB600. Besides the ~260 cells in the battery box,
there is also a set of about 30 spare cells sitting in a carton box in
the passenger seat.
He sold this truck to a grower in NorCal. Not to drive but to get
cheap electric (EV) rate.
So, after it sat many years in their yard, I picked it up and towed it
back to Silicon Valley.
Tomorrow I will attempt to remove all cells from the truck, in
preparation of installing a pair of parallel used Leaf packs, the same
setup that I have been using in the past 25k miles in my daily driver,
another US Electricar S10.
So - if you are interested, give me a holler and I will see if I can
determine what state these cells are in and if they really are BB600,
Cor..
