FWIW, we replaced our Tern GSD recently, and the new one has hydraulic brakes
with an electrical sensor in the brake lever to actuate the brake-lights. And
that appears to be very much a mass-produced, off-the-shelf part. So I think
it wouldn’t be too difficult to put a pressure-sensor into the hydraulic lines
to govern regen while adjusting the calipers to only hit when brake system
pressure was at maximum.
