Remember this one? The Caldecott Tunnel fire killed seven people in the third
(then-northernmost) bore of the Caldecott Tunnel, on State Route 24 between
Oakland and Orinda in the U.S. state of California, just after midnight on 7
April 1982. It is one of the few major tunnel fires involving a cargo normally
considered to be highly flammable, namely gasoline.

The stranded assets out there are massive. This one accident is not an
outlayer. This has also happened in tunnels. Didn't your mother tell you not to
play with fire? They still say drill baby drill. Madness. With all these
disasters I hope some bean counter will make the point it's not worth it.
