Thanks, that explains some of it. The Zoe has a 52kWh battery and a 22kW 3-phase charger. On long trips we plan charging for lunch. A typical French lunch is ~2 hours. By the time we're full, so is the car, or nearly so, at least 90%. The Zoe has a 50kW (woohoo) DC CSS2 input, but I think we've only used it once. AC at 22kW is almost always cheaper than DC, and sometimes it's free. Good public transport helps too. If we take a trip longer than 2 charges (partway and at destination), we go by train. Paris for example - best case is 4h by car with no stops and light traffic, and we'd need a charging stop unless we rented an ICEV. Weekdays it's 5-6h. So we drive an hour to Angouleme. The TGV gets us to Paris in another 3 hours and change, sipping coffee, reading, maybe dozing. Then the Metro. Fast charging is growing rapidly here, and that's good, but we really don't need it nearly as much as you do in the US.
