There are multimeters with isolated RS-232 or USB outputs. For example, the Tenma 72-7735 (approx $50). Anything the meter can measure will be output on its serial port. I have two; one made by Alfa, and the other a Radio Shack #22-168. One of them outputs in plain English (for example, the ASCII characters "12.25 VDC <CR><LF>") The other outputs the raw segments in a serial format, so you have to use a receiver program to convert it to useful numbers. Another option is to use a Cruising Equipment E-Meter / Heart Interface Link-10. Its RS-232 serial output is not isolated, but I made an isolator (and there are also commercial isolators available). There is also the Xantrex Link-PRO, which outputs serial TTL levels, and needs a receiving program to decode it. -- Excellence does not require perfection. -- Henry James But it *does* require attention to detail! -- Lee Hart -- Lee A.
