Hi Lee etc, I also have about 80% left on my 2013 Leaf with 56K miles and it has the option of only charging to 80% - which I do locally unless taking a longer trip. (didn't you mean Leaf not Prius?)
Same with the Chevy Bolt (2020) but GM hasn't figured out the 20-80% local trip thing, replaced batteries in the past of ignorant users. My Tesla Y (2021) beats you over the head if your stupid and charge above 80% (just before leaving on a long trip I charge to 100%, 140K miles so far, 265 miles range - was 320 new) Have a renewable energy day, Mark Mark E. Don't drive to go below 20%, and don't charge above 80% unless I expect to take a longer-than-usual trip. I've always used my EVs for daily commuting, which had a predictable range requirement. I didn't charge every day as long as the SOC was high enough to make the next day's commute without going below 20%. That meant I only charged once or twice a week. This strategy was good enough to get 5-7 years life on my old lead-acid packs; even more on today's lithium packs. Our 2013 Prius with 65k miles still has about 80% of its original range. -- Excellence does not require perfection. -- Henry James But it *does* require attention to detail! -- Lee Hart -- Lee A.
