Speaking as someone who works for a site that doesn't use the example views and who maintains custom IDL entries for custom report views, I say we remove the IDL entries for the examples. We could add them in a comment in the examples SQL file for anyone who wants to use them.
I think a release note explaining the situation should be enough warning.
