Thanks, Dawn, Laura and Jessica for the help! I think I am on the right path now to ferret out a mystery over a book that was not properly handled by staff.

It would, however, record the staff that put the item into transit as the last editing user since that staff member effectively changed the status, presuming no other changes have been made to the item in the meantime. That info is available in the column picker as well. We recently created a report template that filters on item status and the home library of the last editing user. If "In Transit" was chosen as the copy status when the report is run, this should get you the information you're looking for in most cases. Here are the columns and filters used for the report: Columns: Shelving Location, Circ Modifier, Call Number, Author, Title, TCN Value, Status, Item Barcode, Publication Year, Creation Date, Active Date, Last Circulation Date, Copy Status Change Date/Time, Last Edit Date/Time, State Circ Code, Price, Total Circulation Count, Last Editing Staff Username Filters: Not Deleted, Copy Status Changed Date (between), Owning Library (in list), Copy Status (in list), Last Editing User Home Library (in list) I hope that helps! So the last place it was checked in is where the transit or hold was captured. What is the status of the book? If it got to your holds shelf then staff would have made a mistake by not receiving it (checking it in) at your library. It probably had a holds slip on it so staff put it on the holds shelf. This is what I would assume at my library. It doesn't capture the workstation where a hold or a transit happens. I've wanted to be able to see who captured a hold, but that info isn't visible in column picker. I have a hold shelf book on my desk that shows the last checkin workstation at a different library. In theory, at least that's the one that put the item into transit in this case, since it's a new popular title, but I would expect that if something got checked in, returned to the shelf, and showed up on a pull list two days later, the last checkin workstation would be the one when that first circ was returned. I know this is no help. I'm just confirming that this bit of data isn't available anywhere obvious. You can activate it through the column picker. Depending on the last time it was checked in, you can use the barcode there to see the check in workstation without having to run a report. That might help. I have written a report that will show me the last 4 staff members who checked an item out to patrons, but I cannot seem to figure out a way to see who scanned an item into transit. Any suggestions?
