Delighted that the discussion group I merely created two decades ago, not only exists but is likely thriving. I had to hand over the reins--to Peggy Holman, I think--a decade or more--perhaps 15 years--ago when I moved to India to care for my aged parents and help my autism spectrum son navigate the ocean of life. Much water has flown since. OSLIST had to move off the Boise State University server since I was no longer an employee. My dear friend and former colleague Rob Anson assumed responsibility since he remained an employee. I have been out of touch for so long and have forgotten so much. I am officially a senior citizen and cannot stay up very late, eat much or binge on unhealthy foods. Peace and quiet beats activity and excitement. Hours spent in contemplation don't bore me at all. I'd rather have a long, deep, conversation with a close friend than party with boisterous crowds. I enjoy watching black and white films from the 1920s-50s far more than any film made after that period, and rarely any made after 1980. Old fashioned music where the singer has a good voice that is not drowned out by the instrumentation and the lyrics are intelligent warms my spirits. And I am happy in the company of small children and animals; their hearts are pure and their enthusiasm is genuine and unrestrained. Thank you once again and very glad to be here.
