The first paper doesn't seem to be online anywhere. There's an online archive for Synthese at http://www.kluweronline.com/issn/0039-7857/contents, but it only goes back to 1997. You'll have to find the physical journal in an academic library. Or try writing to the authors and asking for a copy to be mailed to you.
