This notion of recursive intelligence is of course an essential prerequisite for the singularity to happen. I wish people would limit the scope of that to small-scale experiments, rather than kicking off the singularity by building it. Someone will end up building it anyway, one day, but let's not be the turkey that calls for an early Christmas. More time, means more chance of figuring out the "alignment problem", of ensuring the best outcome for us as a species.
