However I do feel the omission of Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman to orbit the Earth, and the inclusion of two far lesser lights in the history of astronautics, shows the sort of parochialism someone was complaining about recently, which the USA seems a bit prone to. Next they'll be claiming they "won the space race".
