I don’t think the particles carry wrist watches with them.
Lots of particles decay into other ones, and it can be shown that their half life (the
time after which they have a 50% chance of decaying) gets longer as they speed up, in
accordance with Einstein's equation. This occurs in particle accelerators and is also
how muons were originally detected, I believe. See
