Sure. Fission power plants are commercial. I think the government will have to get involved in creating regulations for fusion power plants. Otherwise there will be paralyzing NIMBY litigation based on fission power regulations.

This is a case where market forces could work better than government / academic research teams to get something done.... and if they do it's a game changer!
