No - I think you have the idea. The strings or branes may well be the
"topological defects" I'm talking about though. That would unite cosmic strings
with superstrings, if true...
Yes.... I can see that... from defects in space-time <-- to --> vibrating
Planck scale strings in all those tightly curled dimensions. Perhaps even a
symmetrically entangled synthesis of {strings, branes} AND these defects in
space-time, so that these become two ways of looking at the self-same.
This naturally leads to the question.. what about space-time itself? If a small
zoo of different space-time defect classes existing in a spacetime bubble give
rise to everything else, whence does this bubble come from?
Either it just exists and has always just existed or space-time itself needs to
come into being somehow.
Perhaps our (?eternally inflating?) space-time reality is one such lucky
quantum vacuum fluctuation.
I do like the inherent simplicity of reducing everything down to being emergent
from a small set of classes of space-time defects.
