Humanity's tendency to self-destruct?!!! The 'achievements' of the 'advanced'
modern civilization!

I personally think that most species given the sudden (in evolutionary terms)
massive lever of power of tool making, language, written cultures, and
subsequent technologies would behave in the same way as our species has on our
planet. Human behavior, especially as masses of people inter-acting with
emergent behavior modes becoming dominant – through the network effect – will
reflect the instinctual drives innate within use.

In the natural world, each specie’s behavior is moderated and circumscribed by
millions of other species (as is ours too, but to a lesser degree). The
emergent result of these countless interactions between millions of species
(mostly microbial) in the environment is the ecology that emerges in that
environment.

Our tool making abilities and somewhat enlarged fore-brains have enabled our
species to leap frog past other species and has given us this illusion that we
do not have to fit within our environments and that we are a part of a larger
ecosystem.

We all live now in the culmination of this process… and this is well
represented by all of those hockey stick graphs.
