It's wonderful entertainment to imagine that past, superior, civilizations arose and fell, or what is Atlantis for? HP Lovecraft, and August Derleth, Clarke Ashton Smith, and so many others of pulp fiction fame. I don't feel it should be part of religious belief because it seems so inaccurate. The mining of easy to dig up copper, iron ore, gold, silver, will take thousands of years of geological actions, like volcanoes, to replenish what the human race has already consumed. So no easy bounce back for a succeeding industrial civilization, once it falls, will be down until the species dies off. We might get a primitive society based on agriculture, that persists until the climate ends us, or a wild plague, that could last for centuries, and live as the peoples in Africa and South America live. But its no Atlantis, no high civilization, no new Roman Empire. Also, no new industrial revolution based on coal, or oil, either. If steam engines are rediscovered, they will all be powered by wood, dried grass, and so forth.
On the other hand, if you are doing Dawa, you might consider what God would want from the minds that have been produced by this universe? My guess is, He might want greater, sophistication for these minds. This is not what Quran, Soonah, or Bukhari, teach, but lots of knowledge exist outside these religious works. For instance, such books may have nothing to say in regard to how to wrap a bleeding wound, or how to program in Python, or which is the best route through a busy city. Sometimes, the best spiritual things arrive from practical things we learn, rather than pronouncements attributed to the All Mighty. Just a few musings. -----Original Message----- From: Samiya Illias <[email protected]> To: everything-list <[email protected]> Sent: Mon, Jun 29, 2015 12:50 am Subject: Mission of the Messengers Mission of the Messengers: No change should there be in the creation of Allah [Quran 30:30] World History & Future Implications Abstract Scriptural records, mythology and archeological evidence together indicate that this is not the first time that humans have technologically advanced - rather ancient human civilisations were far mightier. According to scripture, they indulged in the grave crime of altering creation, and despite repeated warnings, when they persisted in their transgressions, God saved humanity from extinction by annihilating the criminals and their corruptions. Satan’s constant enmity for and relentless efforts to destroy mankind, and his methods are mentioned in the scriptures. As science advances, great strides are being made in genetic engineering and many other fronts. To ensure judicious and beneficial use of technology, it is vital at this juncture for believers, especially scholars, scientists and policy-makers to revisit the scriptures and take guidance from it, lest we unwittingly become Satan’s tool for our own eternal loss.
