The number of these universes is based on the phenomenological match with

the end of inflation produced matter and radiation we identify as the
extreme thermal situation of the big bang. The inflationary spacetime is
expanding at this rate all the time, which is why there is this enormous
number of the pocket worlds or post-inflationary cosmic regions produced.
The number of different types of cosmologies is determined by the number of
topological configurations for Calabi-Yau spaces. For 10 or 11 dimensions
the excess 6 dimensions fold up into Ricci flat spaces, and for 11
dimensions there is a similar compactification tensored by a circle. There
are then 10^{1000} different topologies. So the number of different types
of local physics in these worlds is enormous.
