Indeed. Typically, like truth, machine’s awareness/consciousness is not arithmetical, like most attribute having a relation with truth. Now, the paper just show that the recognition of some shape, and the neural activity associated with it, does not imply awareness, but this does not show that awareness is not processed by brain activity, as the paper suggests. That would be more close to a confirmation of mechanism, though.
