Somehow the New York Times has obtained 18 years of Trump's tax returns
just in time for the first debate. It shows that in 11 of those 18 years
Trump paid exactly zero in taxes, and in 2016 and 2017 he only paid $750.
The Times doesn't have records beyond 2017. It also shows activity that is
certainly unethical and probably illegal, such as deducting $70,000
haircuts and a salary to his daughter for being an employee at one of his
companies and then paying her again for being a consultant to the same
company she worked for. They also show too many conflicts of interest to
mention between his job as president and his job as a businessman. It also
shows he has suffered huge losses In nearly all his investments except for
the ones that he doesn't control. So much for him being a brilliant
businessman. And he owes a vast amount of money to a lot of different
people, so much so that if he wasn't president he would never get even a
low level security clearance in 1 million years. I don't think this sort of
underhanded behavior will surprise anybody who is not a Trump zombie but
this confirmation that there is one set of laws for the super rich and
another set for everybody else may not play well with Trump's uneducated
blue collar base.
