Aww :) You know what's crazy? Licor Beirão is made in a small village (Lousã) near my home town (Coimbra). I went to school with the oldest son of the owner and we are still close friends. His grandfather started the business, bought the recipe from a local pharmacist. He is a big "hard" scifi nerd and I also sent him this story yesterday, so I was slightly confused when I saw the reference in your reply. When I go to Portugal on holidays I often visit him and we go for a hike in the mountain, starting from behind the booze factory, and talk about this sort of stuff.
